Slackware displays the randomart images for some kind of public key when you boot. I always wondered what these were, so thanks for posting.

I suppose it depends on your 'good enough' threshold. I'm quite happy on a stock Thinkpad X220 (7 row keyboard) but I don't do anything especially demanding. Many here would find that machine limiting.

As a schoolboy in the UK in the 60s/70s we had to (try) to read Simenon novels as a way of learning French. The experience tainted the stories ever since. Through reading the article I came across David Peace. The Red Riding Quartet

Which Xorg would I be using for an X86_64 based core duo thinkpad with i915 graphics? I've had little success with NetBSD 9.3 so far (Firefox needs 3d graphics these days) but I'm assuming I'm missing something.

I make casual use of OpenBSD as a desktop on a selection of Thinkpads (BIOS era), sometimes with a full desktop (xfce4) and sometimes sort of minimal (default fvwm with a Web browser). I reinstall each version to see what has changed and ho

Seamonkey is still around and works nicely on low spec machines (not sure about 128Mb though) as a step up from NetSurf. You get a graphical email client and news/gopher built in. Also a rudimentary Web page editor. Printing a Web page

OpenBSD 7.2 has version 2.1.1 available as a package. Slackware has a SlackBuild script for 2.1.2 (slackbuilds.org). The epel 8 repository for RHEL and clones has version 2.1.1. I think that TeXmacs is pretty available generally.
