I'm reading Parfit at the moment and finding it hard going to be honest. That list looks to be a group of senior academics contributing to a series of debates and what I might call research programmes (in the sense of Lakatos). So 'technical' issues if you will within the framework of a specific academic tradition. I suspect that the word philosophy has a wider and non-technical resonance for most people. Shading off into religion, politics, concepts of justice and equity and so forth.
