The community and massive amount of plugins developers created and still create for Wordpress contributes to its success. Same thing with Minecraft. The huge community of modders pushed Minecraft to be as huge as it is. Developers flock to

Thanks. We had plans to do both but ran out of time. The project is now stuck at his school to showcase at the open house. We plan to tinker with it more when we get it back :)

Curious - why are you using React and all of that for a simple 2 page project? Is it for the learning experience? Seems like way overkill unless its for the learning experience.

Sooooo good! I think I may start replying with a link to this article every time a recruiter contacts me with one of these types of jobs. They almost always require moving to the Bay area for some "hot new" startup and a whopping

I can relate. After doing this for over 15 years and many of those in the "Eat, sleep, code, repeat" mode, I sometimes lay in bed at night and imagine what it would be like being a gardener. I picture landscaping plans I would des

2006 for me. It is a SaaS service. The front-end has been re-done a couple of times since then but some of the original back-end code is still in place. I cringe every time I have to look at it but it works well so there hasn't been a

Can any of you from the Bay Area comment on if you have found it harder to find jobs lately? Are recruiters reaching out less than they did last year? I would be interested in hearing from some of you that have been laid off. Have you found

Fixed the bug where it was finding Java within Javascript and adding that to the Java count. The Java count is now properly reflected.

Java currently shows as the top programming language but I believe the parser may be picking up some Javascript for that category. I am working on a fix for that now.

This was my thought too. A lot of the times I suggest doing a hybrid app for the MVP. It is an easier and more affordable way of getting a functional and decent looking app to market. Allows the client to test and fine tune more easily. Oft

This ^ I think startups can be competitive simply by hiring remote. No offices. Trying to manage a slick office space and afford being located in SF is a big overhead. Hiring remote will open up your pool of candidates to people that Google

Your hiring practices and willingness to disclose pay are refreshing. It would be interesting to read a more detailed case study on how this works for you.

I will probably get down voted but I think it's because we are in for a big downturn this year. Amazon is preparing for that and they will garner more market trust because they can show profits. When the bust happens, people are going

It really depends on what you are promoting. Niche, high priced products do well. I have a niche site that earns $80+ per sale averaging 30 sales per month. Adsense on that same site earns less than $200/mo.
