... That describes every job... ever. Unless you are the one stealing the resources directly from the land... in which case: Fat salaries on other peoples' property. But hey, hate on the academics, they are the WORST! right?

Music theory and the humanities in general are concerned with the creation of culture itself. It is just as important as a 'practical application'. (IMO)

Which discipline are you speaking of? That kind of money I've only heard of in finance land (for academics)... and that kind of dried up after 2008.

No, I sited the fact all these wearable apps have heaps of usage. But yes, comments on the internet are "one person think". Good luck with the self-rationalisation you got going there.

"Many think" differently to what you said, as I illustrated. Which therefore actually defines wearables in "fitness" as a huge success, which is the exact opposite of the point you were making. You have a whole industry

Would potholes still exist? Water can't penetrate plastic and soften it's structure, and tires can't grip onto plastic and rip it up... so it seems like there wouldn't be that problem.

Why down vote? It fits the EXACT criteria outlined by the GP? I'd be interested to hear a rational argument for why it's okay for Israel to pursue nuclear weapons but not a neighbouring county? (Please don't resort to some qu

Ketosis is a pretty weird state brought on by lack of carbohydrates. The liver starts producing ketones, ketones rapidly breakdown fat cells to boost blood sugar. It is mostly unrelated to diabetes as that relates to insulin response.

Dismissing opposing view points as koolaid is a bit weak. Just accept people don't agree with you. It's okay. We can both be right and wrong here. I see it as a comedy, not a statement on modern day gender roles. People relate t

But doesn't this miss the fact that "humanity" is emotionally driven and making decisions based on pure logic is un-human? We also have a brain with multiple subsystems that can override each other, and we see this behaviour

I don't think this is a new thing. As I said, Disney are in the business of Princesses. Cinderella - The prince was an idiot, he couldn't even recognise a woman he danced with all night. Beauty and the Beast - All the male charac

As I kind of indicated in my first comment... the world is a well and truly sexist place. I kind of think outrage at disney movies is misplaced. How about outrage at governments? or companies?

I thought in ketosis it wasn't energy expenditure, the liver causes fat to break down and pass through your bladder? ... maybe I have that all back to front though :\ Maybe ketones pass through your bladder and they also break down fat

What about Toy Story, Incredibles, Cars, Up... Oh wait they completely invalidate your point, I get why you left them out. Or are you saying the sexism bias came in after the acquisition? So it's a Disney thing? Ignoring the fact that

Agree. My point was changing driver/cyclist behaviour is not victim blaming, but a valid approach to solving the problem. Road Design, car design, culture, etc are all valid factors as well.

... Wait, Uber is evil, because a guy you know bought a car he couldn't afford and Uber didn't pay him enough to pay it off? So if I bought a ferrari, and I can't really afford to pay it off... the company I work for is evil.

Lets unpack this myth of pure evil argument you've got going. Uber is an evil company because they do some evil things? Are they then not a good company because they do some good things? Or are you saying ALL their actions are evil, an

I know, the audacity. Soon they'll suggest drivers wear seat belts, and drive at a set speed limit! It's not the drivers fault! It's the tree/cliff/road design's. Anything else is victim blaming!

That's a specific (but common) use of the loss-leader strategy, but not the definition. The strategy itself is to sell something at a loss, to get a lead/marketshare/conversion.
