Read receipts are, at least in Outlook, optional to respond to. So...I don't see a problem. People send mail asking for them because for whatever reasons they have because they want to know if you've read the email. So what? I

You can still use the Googlesharing addon to proxy your searches through a concentrator. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/googlesharing... As long as you trust the proxy to not be an adversary.

Perhaps it is time to opt out of AT&T. All you need is a smartphone,wifi, and your favorite secure chat/voip software like chatsecure, redphone, textsecure, etc.
