Clickhouse is one of the most underrated databases. This basically replaces most of my usages of SQLite. When its SQL "dialect" matures, Clickhouse will eat MySQL lunch, then PostgreSQL.

So basically this guy who said vitamin C IV in high doses fights cancer was wrong and should be never rehabilitated , because the hypothetised mechanism was the other way around? (anti oxidant -> oxidant) I think we are forgetting the mo

That was my goal. He was wrong about the mechanism, but the idea of using vitamin-C IV at high doses to fight against cancer was a good one.

TLDR: A team of researchers affiliated with multiple institutions in Italy has found that giving cancerous mice high doses of vitamin C (ascorbic acid) enhanced immunotherapy, resulting in slowed or stopped tumor growth. Maybe Linus Pauling

Thanks a lot! For what I do, I'd need to add a key-B NVME drive (not SATA, because of the IOPS) to the "normal" NVME if I understand correctly. Do you know any such drive having at least 512G and working in NVME (not SATA)? O

You are correct: every now and then, there is a bootstrapping story posted. But it seems to me the VC:bootstrap ratio is very unequal for submitted articles, while going the opposite way for comments. Maybe it's just a question of scal

Very nice find, thanks, I checked it can do 32GB ECC - however, for mass storage it only seems to have 1x NVME, while some quick mental math tells me there should be enough lanes for 2x NVME or Pci-e X4 Gen 3 Do you know something similar t

Something must be invented somewhere. All I say is government research is not necessarily "better". It just is.

HN promoting VC - business as usual. However, what I would love to read would be a little different: bootstrapping success stories! Because that's really hacking the system, for fun AND profit!

So you mean, when something fit their narrative (here: government research is better) people forget about other attempts? And counter examples in similar domains (here: wifi) are also dismissed? Color me impressed!

The beauty of standards is that there are so many to chose from! So it's not very different from startups. Eventually, somethings dominate whether it comes from a standard body or is "branded" as a standard ex-post.

People like to forget. It helps pretend government research and alliances always produce the best outcomes. Your example may be a bit too old. Even novell netware, token ring etc won't ring a bell to many people. Try a simpler one inst

I think people downvote you because you attack their dream that they are "special" (snowflake syndrome, geek version) and will somehow succeed even if on average startups DO crash and burn. You don't seem to be mean, just may

There are many things I know I could do, that most people would find distasteful even if they are perfectly legal. Like working in the ad industry. I would prefer not to do them - but for the right price, why not? It'd better be damn h
