I have a daily diary I've kept for 6 years. It's just bullet points but everyday I can see what I did 30 days ago and the same date every year. I think that's helped reinforce those memories. That strengthening of memories id

I like the look of htmx at first but then when I want to do something where I would usually reach for JavaScript (vanilla or framework), such as a dropdown button, I inevitably consider hyperscript and then I see an example like "<d

I'm always amazed how many employees some of these apps, that seem simple, have. Grindr has 273. And apparently Tinder has 809. How??? I imagine two devs could maintain the app. I've certainly managed more complex apps myself. Per

Wouldn't it be better to move them to a new domain? Worst case scenario they're kept forever. Best case that new domain starts ranking well.

I've never quite understood the w3schools hate. It can be quite useful. My most used page is this one when I need to jog my memory: https://www.w3schools.com/cssref/css_selectors.php It's much better than thi

Wow TiddlyWiki reminds me of how I got started with web development in all the wrong ways. I told my Dad I wanted to make a website for my favourite computer game so he sat me infront of MS Frontpage and got me started. After I while I got

(1) if one day a nuke was used to deflect an asteroid and save the entire planet, would that then outweigh any deaths caused by nukes and ottenheimer would be a hero rather than a villain? That's a tricky road to go down. (2) as is try

I think people use wiki as a synonym for Encyclopedia now. But even that would be wrong in this case.

I'm been following for a while. I have a feeling the 200 people that sign up all have different expectations. Couple that with the need to make decisions and find funding for maintenance collectively and I think you've got a recip

I can't believe that's true. I have friends who make new accounts all the time for jokes or memes. I don't think they're putting a huge amount of effort into it.

Ha I was just thinking a similar thing. I'm much more immune to adverts in a foreign country especially if they use a different alphabet all together. I'm not quite sure I'd consider it beautiful, but it's mildly freeing

I got to be on the early BETA for this as we were doing some stuff for Google. I thought it was the future and registered loads of domains for things I liked suffixed with "wave" thinking it would be possible to create personal or

I find it funny that everyone's saying the screenshots look like a Twitter clone. It looks like Facebook to me. I imagine this is as much about capturing the young people not using Facebook as it is about rivaling Twitter, if not more.

It's funny seeing comments like "was a good thing for all of us" after years of hearing "Twitter is damaging society". I can't tell if it's different people talking now or if people really are that fickle.

This looks great. One bit of feedback is that it seems quite difficult to read on a phone with small font requiring zooming and then horizontal scrolling. Both the website and the PDFs. Being so text heavy I imagine it should be fairly easy

Odd that it says 3000 years ago. The start of the Wikipedia entry on bronze swords says they appeared in 17BC which is of course only 2000 years ago.

Wow I can't fathom the .com being worth that much. Did you manage to do any sort of math on whether the .com has helped bring in $170k of sales? Or how many years it would take to break even.

Comments like this make me worried I'm always reading posts from bots and the developer forgot to take out the word Reddit when pointing the bot at HN. But a human brain fart is probably just as likely.
