No, thanks. I'm already frustrated by all the crappy "native" (non-ported) javascript applications that never work as expected, so let's not keep adding to this.

Better idea, draw the comic by hand in 5 minutes (I think everyone can draw stick figures), photo it, desaturate and add high contrast in gimp, voila. No webkit required :)

No. Don't write classes. Write useful abstractions. It doesn't matter what the abstraction is (a class, a function, or something else you programming language supports)as long as it fits your current architecture and can be easily modified

Again, it depends on what those kids were supposed to study. If it's a general programming/algorithms class then yes this is testing the wrong knowledge. If it's a C++ specific class, this is completely justified. How does one come out of a

You can use a compiler to find the solutions. Except maybe for 1e bonus part, the output won't tell you much in that case.

If the object of the course is to study C++, I say this is a good test, and it's not even that hard tbh.

This. I can't comprehend it when people use sort() to find the min/max element instead of a linear scan. And yes, I've seen it happen.

Not to say that you don't have a point, but how is this relevant to the linked project?

Yes he did. But it's not a typo. It's hard to explain - it's an intentional misspelling of a curse word that makes it somewhat more socially acceptable.

I feel that the author is both right and wrong at the same time. I'd have no problem hiring someone without C# background to write C# if they already know Java, but my gut feeling is to think twice before hiring someone to write C++ who has

My thoughts exactly. Back in the day I thought MS was evil. Now, the things happening in the "consumer computing" almost make me see those Windows times as a paradise of openness.

Not yet - but it's just a matter of writing the makefile. I'll get around to it one of these weekends.

I guess you can call it "intentional", why bother with realism when you can steer your character in-flight? The "story" is the world that the ball lives in has been invaded, so he must run and save everyone :)

Thanks for the info, I'll look at it. I think it might be due to the fact that the file is a winrar SFX archive that contains the game executable and libraries, and it just unpacks to a temp folder and runs it.

I am going to port it to Linux eventually. There's not even that much to "port", I just have to write a makefile. All the OS-specific things are handled by the libraries for which Linux, Mac and Windows versions are available.

I think the best way to learn programming is the same as it was in 2012. Or 1995. Or 1970. All you need is a compiler/interpreter for language X, an introductory course for language X, and a nice entry-level CS book. But most of all, you ne

Because it's so much all about dynamically-typed high-level languages today that raw pointers and manual memory management seem old-skool and cool!
