This brings back some memories :) Back when I was in high school, I had no internet connection at home, so I had to go to "internet cafes", download some interesting stuff on a 1.44 mb floppy and read it at home. That's when I came across t

Remove the santa claus costume from the equation and you'll have just some drunk guy being arrested for writing in chalk. So why can't they arrest him? Does the santa costume justify anything?

Maybe I have changed, or maybe the Internet has changed, but I used to meet people on the internet. I used to make friends online, and some of these friendships gradually mutated into "offline" friendships. There used to be message boards,

I was in the same position about a year ago. I spent about three years at a company, it was my first real job and the members of my team were not just colleagues, but also friends. But then a really good opportunity came up and I decided to

I don't think we admire good engineering because it has some "aesthetic" merits. It's beautiful because it fits its purpose. Planes are beautiful, but if they looked differently, they wouldn't be able to fly. Cheetahs are beautiful, but eve

I don't understand how games can't be art. Creating images is art. 3D modeling is art (like sculpting). Writing stories is art, as well as creating interesting characters. Animation is art. I'm intentionally not mentioning things like progr

This is a pretty bold statement to make considering the fact that there are a lot of companies who do use virtualization in production and do so quite successfully.

That's the right idea for a hobby or research project, but please don't do this in production code. Think about people who have to maintain it after you. I've seen my colleagues wade through a swamp of completely unnecessary C++ metaprogram
