At work we replaced a super messy hotwire/stimulus frontend with Inertia+React and we're super happy about it, no issues at all. The project is a lot easier to maintain and Inertia just does what it says it does.

Lots of ideas here for SciFi movies. I also like the idea of everything being a simulation (like in Matrix) but managed/set up by an alien civilization and just experimenting or having fun with us, or us actually just being their avata

I’d love this feature too. Why not add it as an optional thing to enable and let users decide? Maybe just put a big warning in the docs and make it opt-in?

Dokku is AMAZING. I’ve been using it for about 6 years, never had a single problem with it and I host a lot of apps on a single instance server. Can’t recommend it enough

There is. At some point they might realize and you might not be paid anymore. And this mindset + your background just keeps explaining your problems and struggles. Don't blame the tools.

Vue2/vue3 ? I know of several companies that haven’t been able to update yet, and some probably won’t ever. A company I workerd for has a large nuxt app they won’t be to upgrade any time soon.

Inertia.js is the way forward for me (and my company). Just the way to use react or vue the way it was intended to be used, paired (in a beautiful way) with a real backend framework such as Laravel, Rails, Django or Adonis. I’m so done with

It’s a very shady company, and despite what it looks like, they’re more a marketing company than a tech one. I’m glad I noticed this early and stopped using Next on time. For me the thing that made me realize this was their “hiding” (for as

I think Inertia.js is the answer to this. It’s just some “glue” to make React/Vue/Svelte play nice (as the views) for any of the battle proven frameworks like Laravel, Django, Rails… or Adonis if you want to stay in node for the b

So instead of using battle proven frameworks (such as Laravel, rails, Django, etc) you just invent your own? Doesn’t sound like a great idea to me.

Cool, let’s bet on another framework which nobody knows where it will be next year, or if it will still exist at all. At some point people will realize there’s some value on full stack batteries included frameworks that have been around for

For those that don't know it yet, Unpoly is very similar to HTMX. Same spirit, but has been around for longer, it is a bit less known and also more "high level" providing very useful abstractions like layers, hooks for custom

So don’t use their opinions, use mine. Until the next dev comes to the project and doesn’t agree with your opinions, right? I’ve seen this movie far too many times. The main benefits of these frameworks is that they remove all the bike shed

That’s why I think the most sane way to use React (or Vue) nowadays is through Inertia.js. Have a proper backend doing all the backend stuff and just render page components as if they where just the views of the framework. All this server c

I'm so done with React. Since Vercel kidnapped it everything is done for/because of their platform and their interests. Most evil company I've seen in a long time.

Nice, but this works only for simple and minimal stuff. Maybe up to a landing page. Anything else and this totally breaks down.

It’s pretty marketed though. That’s why it has become more popular than Unpoly, which has been around for longer, was not rewritten 10 times, and has a lot more useful features.

I agree Adonis doesn’t feel like js, but guess what, applying rails conventions will lead you to the same problem, it won’t feel as js either. Also, react has nothing to do with all of this. This is about backend. Laravel is a great example
