As I replied above, all is neat and great until you have to debug something not working as expected.

Well, then it’s not JavaScript anymore? I love abstractions, but lately all the ones provided by next.js related to the server stuff are pretty leaky, and the compiler looks to me like it’s going to be the most leaky of them. There’s also t

Until things fail or don’t go as expected and it’s imposible to know what the hell is going wrong. That’s the biggest problem with complexity, not just understanding it from the user point of view.

It's astonishing how complex this has become. All the server component stuff is great technologically speaking and if you're using React, it's a very welcome thing as this will lead in the long term to less bloated applicatio

This is not specific to rails, at all. It can happen with any stack you use. If you prefer building on top of some minimalist framework, then it’s very likely you end up with worse problems. If you don’t because you’re an excellent programm

Those metrics you’re asking for, I’ve seen them to vary wildly within the exact same stack at different companies, or even within the same company at different teams. I don’t think they have anything to do at all with the stack. I think the

Adonis is inspired from Laravel but it’s far from being comparable. Features, community, “battle proveness”, third party packages, etc are just not there yet.

I think it’s main problem is the lack of community. There are almost no third party packages and the core team is pretty small (one or two devs). I wouldn’t risk using it to find myself 5 years down the line using a zombie project I couldn’

I only use it for side projects right now, and in the past for a real production application for which "high availability" was not a problem (I could do ocasional maintenance windows out of work hours). Here's how I did it in

I once worked for a pretty big and popular ticket selling company where you couldn’t type your credit card number too fast because it would miss numbers. It was all redux’s magic and simplicity was making almost the entire thing rerender on

Hotwire and Stimulus are great. They’re widely used within the league of “sprinkles” libraries and it’s well maintained. You can use it with any backend framework. I use it with Laravel and it’s a pleasure to work with. But it’s not trendy

Stimulus and Hotwire (on top of Laravel or any other decent batteries included framework). Not a single one of the many projects I’ve worked on in the last 10 years needed such a level of interactivity that it justified the trade offs of us

I’m all in into the sprinkles approach (I’m a big fan of Hotwire and most of the times that’s what I use) but the Django templates are extremely outdated and limited. I don’t miss it at all. They’re really bad. Compare it to Blade (Laravel)
