And 99% of developers spend their entire careers without giving as much as a passing thought to cache locality. Quick, how long, in cycles, does it take to retrieve data from RAM? About 200 cycles. 200 cycles is a very long time if you miss

The key phrase here is "some", and not "all". I mean why is it even an argument that killing your own kid through negligence should be a crime? The perp may or may not be convicted, but they _must_ go through a trial for

I like cooking though, and I don't mind cleaning around the house once a week. "Happy" is a highly individual thing. Time you enjoy wasting is not wasted.

Manslaughter is by definition involuntary, look it up in the dictionary. Doesn't mean you won't go to jail for it, unless the jury lets you go.

You don't just need to consider whether they would do it again. You also need to consider whether, if he gets off scot free, some unhappy depressed parent will do it on purpose and then claim she "forgot". So in this regard a

Yes, I've read it. Just because you didn't mean to do it doesn't mean it's not a crime. That's why it's called manslaughter and not murder, and that's why it carries a lower penalty.

I'm a parent, I don't need to read an article to be able to tell you it is easy. If you are with a kid, just take her with you or if you can't do so, don't bring your kid along. Billions of people manage just fine.

Of course it is. It's involuntary manslaughter (that's if you actually did forget, and didn't do it on purpose like some of those people). Punishable by up to 8 years in prison. Don't want to go to prison? Easy: don'

Not to mention that kinds don't even know how to _see_ when they are born, and for several months thereafter. That's petabytes of visual stimuli going through that brain so that it learns what's statistically more important a

Yeah, but it's not like traditional advertising is free of fraud either. You can't even really pretend to measure the effectiveness of campaigns there. And there's much more money in it.

That steering column will look mighty impressive when the driver impales herself on it in a crash. I wonder what NHTSA thinks of non-crumpling columns and steering wheels with no air bag.

Aren't there a whole bunch of videos on YouTube of kids opening these with not much more than a length of steel wire and primitive hand tools? You decidedly do not want a safe that's not UL listed.

Why is it called Linux, though? There's no Linux there at all IIRC, in the sense that it's not using the Linux kernel.

Other than difficulty with ZFS on root, I think you're just making stuff up. I run a rather heavily used set of RAIDZ2 arrays and everything works fine. No "odd glitches" or anything.
