I gave playing 20Q with the GPT-4 version, and it did surprisingly well. It didn't quite get it in 20 questions, and correctly gave up once it hit that, but it was almost at my object (a computer power supply). Given what it was asking

Even after reading some of that thread, I have no idea what this AT protocol is. Did someone reuse the name for the thing used in modems?

The title here on HN has been butchered into nonsense. The only possibility for "them", as written, is "enzymes", which isn't the case.

The modified headline on here doesn't make any sense. Also, this article doesn't seem amazing; it seems simplified to the point of being misleading, and it's not clear in the article what is meant by making it "work"

Sure they soften a bit, but I've never had significant issues with cardboard straws. Plastic straws are awful in terms of trash, and disposable plastic bags need to go away too.

It's good that the actual file is InvestorsExchange.jl, because without the E capitalized, that's definitely not how my brain parses it.

The question isn't asking about how it works. It asks about where that algorithm comes from.

The radio side of things is very locked-down, you can only transmit in the bands allowed by the region for which it's sold.

* Long-term storage plans tend to be pretty solid, but then people remotely near it get rallied to protest it. * Any cases of that are management issues, not nuclear power generation issues. * Making safe nuclear reactors is a well-understo

I'm always shocked by how many anti-nuclear power people are on HN. So many have bought into fearmongering and lies about safety that oil and gas companies are happy to encourage. It's a non-reweable but quite clean and incredibl

Neat, but I find it odd that this was the top item on HN for me at the time of clicking. It's not an innovative type of calendar, these have been around on keychains and other form-factors for a long time.

Developing effective renewables does not preclude the development of nuclear power. Switching completely to renewables in the very short term is not feasible, and it will take particularly long in areas that aren't well-suited to any o

I've only found one compiler bug, and it's in an interaction between the m68k code and inline assembly, in for modern GCC, which gives less hope of it being fixed. As far as I know it's still unfixed and open on the bug track

I don't see how you could justify that conclusion. Is it that nuclear power plants aren't built overnight, and until they're done current power generation needs to continue? Because in that case it's just the status quo,

Uh, yeah, so should every green-type party. It's ridiculous to not be encouraging nuclear power when there are plenty of fossil-fuel power plants (especially coal) being operated and built. We can talk about switching away from nuclear

Just how much do you have to hate consumers to come up with a scheme like this? Increment revisions as you add more features, add something to the end to say how fast it goes. The 3.2 renaming is idiotic.

The entire TV/movie streaming industry is pushing the world back to a cable-like one, and that's already pushing people back to pirating. There are a lot of people who were content to pay for a couple services, but even without an

I don't get your point. Plenty of sites have `www` (though most will forward to it from the non-`www` version. A company's homepage isn't defined as their first-level subdomain. On top of that, many companies have different h

To me, that's a pretty appropriate reaction. Someone is abusing something that is very explicitly not for that use. At some point, you have to be firm that what's being done is bad, and it being bad should be obvious.
