Not being snarky. How hard is it to setup DB replication and do testing/QA on that DB? Isn't it the SOP? Why the remediation list doesn't include it?

I have been using awesome, but I often see people recommending i3. Any advantages of i3 over awesome?

Nitpicking. > 20. The Sith are right, rage propels. But the Jedi are right, you must not let it control yourself. What nobody tells you is that the rage game is intrinsically tiring and rage will take control as soon as you get too tire

I am relatively new here, obviously I don't have enough karma points to down vote, but even if I did, I wouldn't down vote for an opposing view point. This is one thing I don't like about the commenting system here. It discou

I couldn't agree more, once team members start focusing on personal glory they lose the big picture. From that point onwards team becomes an inefficient machine with sustained decay.

What if we are the first/only intelligent beings in the universe and it is upon us to spread to other galaxies and stars? Probabilistically unlikely for us to be the only ones, but just a thought.

Now, Vim. But I would definitely like to give Emacs another try, just for kicks. Do you think emacs with evil is the path with least resistance for a long term Vi/Vim user?

I started off with Emacs and a month a later tried Vi. I found Vi to be a better fit for me than Emacs and haven't looked back since. I have huge respect for both editors, they both are much older than me :) I wish I could write someth

I use sed & awk all the time. It is an invaluable tool while debugging issues, extracting fields from log files etc. I am not dissing python or perl, I use python extensively as well. But while you are in the middle of an incident, hard

I miss my N900, I could run full fledged Debian on it. The Maemo OS also had Terminal app with full SSH client & server app. I used to SSH into my phone from my laptop just for kicks. And then Nokia had to go and fuck it all up.

When I moved here I was surprised to know that I had to explicitly ask AT&T to enable tethering. In India, it is enabled by default and is part of your subscription, you just pay for the data depending on the plan you choose.

Thank you for the link, it's amazing how quickly it cooled down. I thought it would take hundreds of years for it to go from blue to red. But I guess since the merger of the neutron star resulted in the formation of blackhole, It could

Whenever I read about neutron stars, they are always too far away (like millions of light years), so I did a quick search and found one closest to earth about 250 to 1000 light years and apparently it is above the plane of the milky way gal

Apologies if it sounds too dumb, but on the descent you have additional mass of your cargo that needs to be opposed by equal amount of braking force (magnetic or otherwise), on the ascent you have an unladen truck which needs lesser energy

For vehicle of that size to have a controlled descent using only the magnetic field (from the generator) as the braking force, it has to be one massive magnet, no? In which case, it is also adding to the overall weight of the vehicle.
