Rosetta saw plenty of use just from Adobe apps. It took them about a year and half IIRC to release an x86 version of Photoshop.

Machine off, cold start to login screen: 6.7s At desktop clicking restart to login screen: 5.9s. Wake from sleep to login screen: 3.2s Lift lid to login screen: 2.8s. Those are single run YMMV, etc.

Not disparaging them, but on my MBP/SSD Lion boots to login screen in about 2 seconds and boots to desktop w/ auto-login turned on in ~5.

No. And many of the ones I skimmed can be set from various other GUIs as well. This is just an easy way to apply one person's set of preferences to your machine.

I've stuck with Firefox over Chrome because I don't want Google to win the browser. But with most of the signs and some news out of the Mozilla camp having not been good lately, each piece of news nibbles at my ear just a little bit more.

I have a script on a port installed ruby 1.9.2p290 (2011-07-09 revision 32553) OSX 10.7.1 that hangs in an at_exit and must be kill -9'ed. Is this maybe a ruby-core bug?
