That's ... Really sad to hear. Decades ago I was obsessed with Blender and spent a decent amount of time on there. Knowledge is vanishing before our eyes, escaping to the shadows, where is whispered between those who hold it in their m

Not disputing the feasibility of light field imaging. That approach really doesn't do anything for the use case the camera Nikon/Mitsubishi are showcasing. Light field cameras have low resolution for their sensor sizes, lower opti

This sounds pretty elegant but I don't think it's correct. I don't have a good sense for what the R&D required to spin up a new bespoke sensor is, but I think it's sort of high - I assume there's a reason Nikon

That's slick! I wonder what sorts of jobs end up being cost effective on it. Like, how much does the media used to print the example job in the video cost? There's no clue on the website as to the cost of the media, so I'm gu

Needlessly complex, and machine vision camera users don't like the ambiguity that comes with ML processing on the frontend of their own stuff.

From my time with optics this seems the most likely setup. Getting good optical efficiency out of the setup might take some cleverness though - ideally you're not dumping loads of light that are "out of frame" for one sensor.

If properly cared for, and under common urban all-weather cycling conditions, yeah your chain is going to last for more than a few weeks. 1500 miles is what I get on my 12sp MTB chains, which get exposed to more severe service than urban bi

People have ridden fixed in SF for decades. I have as well. You learn to prefer certain routes, and when the hill is steep, you just deal with the low cadence.

Top of mind, I recall that the US sent Israel 14,000 of the Mk84 2000lb bomb alone since Oct7. The lethal fragmentation radius of the Mk84 is 400 feet. The Strip is about 140 mi^2, so you're talking about 100 Mk84's per square mil

I mean I live in a city now (denser than any city in the Bay) and I left my truck unlocked for 3 months before I sold it. Btw, in case this is relevant: if you have a 1st gen Tacoma, never sell that thing. Still miss that truck.

I think you could classify the shortage of doctors as being due to "poor regulation." Some brief reading suggests that the supply of physicians is constrained by a cap on public funding residency slots lobbied for by the AMA.
