I don't use "mind blown" too often, but I will in this case. Here I am, sitting on my ass munching on a snack, admiring the mountains of a planet 3 Billion miles away. This is so amazing.

- rogerbinns 11y agoAnd to think you are using a measurement system that is so archaic and suboptimal that the vast majority of the planet uses something better :-) Pluto is 4.7 billion kilometres distant at the moment.
- untog 11y agoOh lord, a units of measurement flamewar is exactly what this thread does not need. (seriously, if you're thinking about extolling the virtues of miles vs km, please, stop)
- cpncrunch 11y agoI guess the downvoters somehow completely missed Roger's smiley.

- Dylan16807 11y agoThe comment has no value, smiley or not. Knowing that you're being annoying does not automatically excuse being annoying.
- ectoplasm 11y agoOh, I don't know. I believe that you can always find something interesting to say about even the stupidest remarks. For instance, 3 billion miles no longer fits in a uint32 when converted to kilometers. Hell, we even lost the Mars Climate Orbiter because of a mistaken conversion between English and metric units. http://articles.latimes.com/1999/oct/01/news/mn-17288 http://articles.latimes.com/1999/oct/01/news/mn-17288
- cpncrunch 11y agoIt must be a strange world that you live in if you consider a good-natured joke said with a smile to be "annoying". Anyway, my comment missing seeing the smiley was in reference to untog's comment that Roger was starting a flamewar (when he clearly wasn't).
- Dylan16807 11y agoBringing up an often-seen furious bikeshedding debate is not a good thing to do. It can be an honest mistake, but it's still a mistake. Smiles convey intent, they don't have magic powers. They can't stop something from being annoying. So it's not that I'm against good-natured jokes with smiles, it's just that those attributes can't save all possible statements. Smiles don't strongly affect whether you effect a flamewar, either.
- alkonaut 11y agoI'm desperately trying to view the images on a shoddy Italian hotel Wifi and can't help thinking how ironic it is that the images were sent six bazillion km from the edge of the solar system but I can't beam them the last ten meters. Rocket science!
- yuchi 11y agoTechnically you just should give it 4 and half hours. I’m pretty sure digital divide here in Italy is not THAT powerful!
