As one who lives in Silicon Valley, almost everything seems reasonably affordable by comparison (currently paying $1300 for tiny one bedroom apartment built in the 70s). EDIT: I should add that rate is the absolute lowest I was able to find and not be in East Side San Jose (for those in the neighborhood who were likely about to say, "damn, only $1300?").
