I'm suspicious that this is any better than TLS and client certificates.
Plus, it's not entirely clear what's supposed to happen when your family and friends are using your computer, or when your laptop is simply stolen.
- IgorPartola 12y agoSurely you passphrase protect your id_rsa!
- mkorfmann 12y agoBack to entering passwords (or passphrases for that matter)... Yay!
- swadworth 12y agoThat's a retarded retort. In the SSH case you have ONE password to remember. Not one per website. Furthermore, the password never leaves your machine. Log in to a hundred websites with SSL and a password and the NSA comes along, collects all your passwords server side, knows which ones you reuse, knows your password generation patterns, everything. You are completely nuts if you think these two things are the same.
- icebraining 12y agoYou have a good point. You're also completely over-the-top aggressive for a discussion about website authentication.
- swadworth 12y agoSorry dad. You're right, it would be a real shame if the padded corners police came and modded down the intelligent posts. This site might just turn into a groupthink circlejerk if that happened :-/
