I wonder if this is a litmus test for rejecting CurrenC from the App Store for duplicating functionality that's already provided by iOS (Apple Pay). Have a go at the little guys, one of them bites with a lawsuit and Apple gets to duke it out in a fairly low-risk legal game. Apples wins => likely to block CurrenC (and has a legal precedent for upcoming challenge) Apple loses => unlikely to block CurrenC
