- PopsiclePete 13y agoYou haven't had the pleasure of using VS 2012/2013 with Resharper, I see. My cursor lag while I type. Occasionally the entire IDE sputters to a halt, becoming unresponsive for seconds at a time, because Resharper decided to perform some static analysis on a 200-line Javascript file. On an 8-core, 32-GB RAM machine with an SSD. Let that sink in for a second. Yeah.
- mehrdada 13y agoThat's exactly the experience I had with Resharper when I installed it (and subsequently removed it for good after a few days) years ago when I still wrote C# code. I never understood the "Resharper is essential" attitude. Plain Visual Studio was just fine.
- voltagex_ 13y agoVS2012 and 2013 have caught up to Resharper's features. I still use Resharper's refactoring and Alt-enter shortcuts though.
- stefan_kendall3 13y ago"SSD" doesn't mean a whole lot. Sata 2 vs PCI Express is an order of magnitude of difference.
- marcosdumay 13y agoSorry, but you seem to be confusing throughput with latency. It's very rare that a program locks for lack of disk throughput.
- stefan_kendall3 13y agoIntelli-J crawls on slow drives. Given ReSharper is also a JetBrains product, I assume the performance characteristics are similar.
- marcosdumay 13y agoI get that with VS 2010. Intelisense makes my computer stop for several seconds at times.
- sphildreth 13y agoReSharper is a crutch for .NET developers who are too lazy to learn all the features of Visual Studio and who get confused by LINQ. The best feature of ReSharper is the ability to easily turn itself off without totally un-installing; this allows you to conform to the notion of having ReSharper installed but not crippled by having to use it.
- yread 13y agoAntivirus?
- romanovcode 13y agoEhm. I primarily work with VS2013 + ReSharper. Works much faster than Netbeans/Eclipse/{AnotherEditorWrittenInJava}.
- jwn 13y agoI use NetBeans on a daily basis and never find it to be slow. Eclipse on the other hand....it's a giant turtle monster masquerading as an IDE wrapper around OSGI.
