Can you expand on this?
- Ygg2 13y agoNot a contributor, but from what I gather this is the strategy: PDF plugin -> PDF.js Flash plugin -> Shumway.js Java Plugin -> Nope. Good riddance. Others -> Nope Jetpack Addons on the other hand with are basically JS with access to some of Fx private API and are ported as soon as hooks for that API is made.
- piyush_soni 13y agoGoogle Talk (/Hangouts) plugin. Silverlight plugin (Netflix, Amazon streaming) There are hundreds (if not thousands) of others. There are some we use to allow exploring 3d CAD models in the browser. HTML5/JS might be the way to go for future, but currently it seems a lot of plugin replacements (including shumway) are not up to the mark.
- kevingadd 13y agoTell that to Google, who are actively working on breaking all those plugins in chrome, for everyone, in an attempt to force people to rewrite plugins for the chrome specific Ppapi (which can't do many of the things npapi can)
- piyush_soni 13y agoWhy would I tell that to Google? I use Firefox :).
- Dylan16807 13y agoWebRTC? As far as I know Silverlight's primary draw is DRM. Good riddance.
