Cool. Jetbrains ran their big discount less than a year ago, so I'm still able to upgrade for free.
- TylerE 13y agoThey generally only offer free upgrades for 90 days, if that.
- LordIllidan 13y agoI bought PhpStorm, RubyMine, and Appcode in the Dec 21 sale of 2012, all 3 of them have been upgraded to the latest versions (just updated RubyMine today)
- bdcravens 13y agoI bought it at the same time, and can confirm that I was able to update to 6.0.
- cothomps 13y agoThe personal licenses (at least) have migrated to a subscription model. I bought RubyMine last Dec as part of their end of the world sale and can upgrade until April 12th.
- TylerE 13y agoReally? Am I not looking in the right place? I bought during the sale and they want $99 from me. Of course, I bought the full-blown IDEA, and not one of the derivatives.
- jasonlotito 13y agoIntelliJ IDEA is normally $199. The upgrade subscription fee is $99 a year. It's been this way for a long time now, and hasn't changed.
- krisdol 13y agoI believe that is the price if you've previously had a license that is now expired or about to expire. If a new version is released within the year of your subscription, you can upgrade for free. The price is lower for upgrades so that you don't re-pay the full cost of the product every year.
- tuananh 13y agoweird huh!? I asked them on Twitter regarding IntelliJ IDEA 13 and I got this[1] > Upgrade is free personal licenses bought after October, 30, 2013. [1]: https://twitter.com/andrey_cheptsov/status/398103017976639488 https://twitter.com/andrey_cheptsov/status/39810301797663948...
- TylerE 13y agoYes, that's exactly what I'm running into also.
- jasonlotito 13y agoThat's not true. You get free upgrades for an entire year after making a purchase. It's been that way for many years now, at least as long as I've been purchasing their products.
- TylerE 13y agoYes, but everything I'd read indicates that is only MINOR updates (e.g. 1.x), not major updates (2.0)
- hhariri 13y agoNo. Again, that's not entirely correct. Per my previous reply: - If you purchased a product that was not bound to subscription model, you got ALL minor updates independently of the time passed. - If you purchased a product bound to subscription, you get 1 year free upgrades, both major and minor.
- hhariri 13y agoThat's actually not accurate. For non-subscription based products we offer all minor upgrades, irrelevant of the days passed since purchase. For subscription-based (Which many are now) we offer 1 year free upgrades to both major and minor.
