If electricity price is the main problem, why not go solar?

- DanBC 13y agobecause that adds capital cost. You're paying for the bitcoin mining unit and for the solar panels. For the older GPU bitcoin mining farms you'd need a substantial solar array to cover costs! That's at least one good thing about fpgas and asics - lower running costs.
