I lost interest fairly quickly, and half of the components seemed broken.

That seems rather disingenuous in light of: "I lost interest fairly quickly, and half of the components seemed broken." Seems that you figured out what it was after all, if you knew those were components. Nothing wrong with negative feedback if it's constructive, but this seems to be a response in the category of "I couldn't be bothered to actually think before I wrote".
