The price of beer at Oktoberfest completely defies economic logic
- Raphmedia 13y agoCorrect me if I am wrong, but I do not see how it completely defies economic logic. It's a one in a year event. You have little to no competition, it's popular and people come from all over to attend. You can pretty much increase the price of the event and of the beer, because people expect to pay premium anyway.
- joezydeco 13y agoI didn't see the part where the cost of all the mega tents, entertainment, and extra waitstaff + security is factored in. Oktoberfest is not just an open keg in the middle of Munich with someone selling tickets. This is a small city that is erected for the event. (BTw, hotel rooms are also 6x normal price. It's not just the beer.)
