Ooook. I think the bulk of what you're saying is spot on, but I can't let this go: "One of the greatest violations of liberty in American history"?
Let me get this out of the way, in case there is any doubt: I hate PRISM and I hate the crazy-broad FISC warrants. And I hope we never stop talking about them until they are good and dead.
But seriously? One of the greatest violations of liberty in American history? Here are some real contenders, just to name a few: Slavery. Japanese internment. Hoover's FBI. McCarthyism. These things are just horrific tips of the iceberg if you're looking for civil liberties violations in U.S. history. PRISM is not even close, and anyone who cavalierly suggests otherwise is just asking to be disregarded in any serious conversation about these issues. And a serious conversation is exactly what we need to have, so please leave that sort of loose talk at the door.
Keep it up, and our opponents will succeed in making us out to be loons, they will adjust the discourse to marginalize us, and then nobody will be listening as reality begins to catch up with your comment.
Speak carefully. This stuff matters.
