Maybe a basic income would have encouraged him to go the academic track which seems to suit him so well.
- 1123581321 13y agoIf he was attracted to the idea of going to grad school for free, I think he would have gotten a grad assistant scholarship/stipend. He would certainly qualify. However, I don't see any indication that academia would have addressed the needs expressed in what I quoted from the essay. Academia has its own grinds and banalities and does not have an easy exit.
