Why People Are Sabotaging Flock Surveillance Cameras
- snvzz 14d agoThey are destroying others' property, which is as immoral as it gets. The basics: Do not kill, do not steal, do not destroy. This is behavior worse than that of rabid animals. It should be treated accordingly.
- 6510 14d agoA government needs to buy the right to have these cameras and the currency is trust. You can complaint about the way people behave, they deserve it! Won't change anything tho. How would you feel if they put cameras in your home? I know it sounds absurd but in some places landlord CCTV is gaining more and more terrain.
- snvzz 14d ago>A government needs to buy the right to have these cameras and the currency is trust. These individuals destroying cameras, instead of using force to try and impose their will (to no avail), should support candidates that favor the policies they want. We (supposedly) live in a society. Society is not possible if crime is tolerated.
- gonight 14d agoRight, let's just ignore multiple instances of city councils receiving hours of impassioned speeches from constituents then unanimously voting against the will of the people.
- snvzz 14d agoThe implication is that the only solutions are autocracy and anarchy. The "destroy the cameras" path. I'd rather we just elect better city councils.
- 6510 13d agoI too would like to see the election system cover it but destroying things is part of the vocabulary. Without it we would end up with absolute rulers who cant be questioned. Governments also have the means to destroy peoples property and/or beat people in line. (We would both rather not see that either) The two combined may have us gradually spiral down into civil war. Before that there is plenty of time for the parties to consider behaving themselves or bow to the pressure. To be honest, we have far to many people who will put up with anything that doesn't affect them personally. They are capable of much greater harm than this bunch of guys with tube cutters. > Society is not possible if crime is tolerated. That goes for everyone! > Law enforcement officers across the United States have repeatedly abused Flock Safety automated license plate reader (ALPR) camera databases to stalk, track, and harass romantic partners, ex-partners, and citizens for personal reasons.
- snvzz 13d ago>Governments also have the means to destroy peoples property and/or beat people in line. Only the state has the means to do so. The state holds the monopoly on violence. >Law enforcement officers across the United States have repeatedly abused Ever since body cameras, whole ACAB claim has fallen apart. There definitely are bad actors, but they are few and far between.
- 6510 13d agoNot everyone is chopping down cameras, they are few and far between too. I think the problem is that I haven't fully recovered from this Dinosaurs episode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nwan7DMVLR8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nwan7DMVLR8
- trinsic2 14d agoWhos property?
- JohnFen 13d ago> which is as immoral as it gets. I can easily think of a ton of things that are far more immoral than that. > This is behavior worse than that of rabid animals. It should be treated accordingly. Somehow, I can't agree that some relatively mild property damage should be penalized by death.
- nmeagent 12d agoThis is some fine satire.
