- daseiner1 23d ago*Xiaomi apple is always "late to the party" and regularly takes existing tech, polishes it to a high standard of UX, and introduces a new paradigm for consumer tech products. if xiaomi has ever done that please let me know. not to mention that chinese consumer goods companies are largely siloed to the east anyways
- pjerem 23d agoI agree but that’s still my point. The thing looks totally unpolished. The corners are horrible, the UX looks subpar. It’s the first time I feel like Apple totally rushed a new product without any real vision. *Xiaoco, I invented this ref.
- qlte 23d agoYeah I posted in another comment, but I'm quite confused by the corners. It's described like they solved some giant UX pain point on other foldables, but as far as I can tell it's a solution to a problem they created to make the corners have like a 50% radius? The screen is still so small I don't understand why that's desirable but maybe I'm missing the purpose.

- mr_toad 23d agoThey must bend and flex, or they will crumple. Soon they will congregate, enclosed within the fold.
- qlte 23d agoZ Fold 8 already has this form factor, just without the giant corners so the front/inside screen are symmetrical on both axes and share the same radius.
- michelb 22d agoExactly, most Chinese/Eastern brands already standardised on the passport form factor, which is also why Apple chose it I guess. It has aspect ratio benefits.
