Why AI-generated slopaganda works
- mikelgan 25d agoThe fact that AI can create convincing fakes is not why it’s such a powerful tool of disinformation. Other attributes matter more.
- fennecfoxy 25d agoEh people don't care if something is true or false they care about the dopamine hit they get from engaging in tribal behaviours that reinforce their freaky belief systems that often aren't rooted in any kind of reality. Humans are animals. We are!
- reactordev 25d agoAhhh behavioral science…
- dsego 25d agoI think this type of generated content has the same role as illustrations or newspaper caricatures in the past. It doesn't need to be true, it just needs to express a particular viewpoint.
- simianwords 25d agoI'm sorry to dismiss but this this is low quality. does anyone really believe this? > AI-generated faces and deepfakes are rated more trustworthy than human faces. This is reddit tier slop science.

- someothherguyy 25d ago> it is shocking to see that you have not even read the paper and you are just presenting it directly what the fuck do you know about what i have read? i was responding to a statement from the article. the link i shared is to an article that i read. it is cited some 600 times by similar articles. i don't have the time to analyze every thing that the president or his administration posts. i don't know the realness of the AI faces he posts. if you have a resource that summarizes this, feel free to share. maybe try to add to a discussion instead of ridiculing those participating in it with anecdotes and accusations.
- spenvo 25d agoHe isn't proclaiming that, he linked to this study https://www.eurekalert.org/news-releases/1135087 https://www.eurekalert.org/news-releases/1135087 led by Alexis McGuire with Paul Taylor and Sophie Nightingale from Lancaster University, Maty Bohacek from Stanford University and Hany Farid from the University of California, Berkeley - peer reviewed. Your comment lacks context.

- blini-kot 25d agonot much substance in the article, sadly. There really needs to be some solid evidence on the mechanism and causes - which would be very interesting and a great opportunity for a follow-up.
- spenvo 25d agoThis is a cheap comment. He linked to three different studies: https://www.science.org/content/article/ai-chatbots-are-becoming-experts-changing-people-s-minds-what-s-their-secret https://www.science.org/content/article/ai-chatbots-are-beco... https://www.technologyreview.com/2026/08/25/1140958/your-brain-on-ai https://www.technologyreview.com/2026/08/25/1140958/your-bra... https://www.eurekalert.org/news-releases/1135087 https://www.eurekalert.org/news-releases/1135087 Are we dealing pro-AI astroturfing in the lead up to IPOs? Also noticed this item got shadowbanned off the front page, without as much as a "flag" designation. The pro AI crowd seems unable to face the reality that AI is being used in nefarious ways by the most powerful people, in ways that many were warning about a decade ago.

- josefritzishere 25d agothe word "propaganda" implies there is a strategy at play. He does not have a strategy. He has advanced dementia and cognitive decline.
- k310 25d agoThe "Emperor's new propaganda" (entirely done by others and passed along) is the "projection" of many persons' secret fantasies and also their need to blame others (which he does relentlessly for anyone not himself) for their own weaknesses, fears and failures. It's a complete con job, but primed 24 by 7 by 365 by media lies and distortions. It's a very closed circle, like a cult. The con? To get people to act in their own worst interests (You wanted war and tariffs?) by playing on their weaknesses.
