I'm fine with the criticism, but what's the solution? And what makes this a uniquely Elon problem when the rest of the social media industry does the same? There was backlash when the models learned computer programming from open source repositories, so I wonder if the same applies to casual speech.

- Pedro_Ribeiro 1mo agoWould've happened either way. Data is more valuable and also trivial to scrape now.
- account42 1mo agoWhich is the root of the problem - that we have allowed companies to claim ownership over and sell their user's data.
- aboardRat4 1mo agoUsenet worked without any antispam, until the first spammer appeared.
- ibejoeb 1mo agoThat's when the LLM labs emerged and started collecting the data en masse. Likewise, virtually all other major social media players added barriers to unfettered anonymous access. Reddit worked without an account, and with multiple alternative client apps, until spez changed it, right?
