- qarl2 2mo agodid i say he was being unreasonable? i asked him why he's pigeon-holing it. and you, too? don't hackers enjoy a little bit of playful ambiguity in their lives? must it be all serious all the time? sheesh.
- 01100011 2mo agoSir, this is the Internet in 2026. We don't allow playful anything unless the intent is clearly labeled and approved by your local decency csar. Please continue to refrain from double entendre, sarcasm, irony, or any other form of misunderstandable communication. Every thought must be of clear intent to the community so we may apply the correct direction of moderation to facilitate the amplification or suppression of thoughts in line with the already accepted and centrally approved community morality. Thank you for your cooperation.
- qarl2 2mo agoUNDERSTOOD. WILL COMPLY.
- Obscurity4340 2mo agoYa damn right u will ;P
- Dylan16807 2mo agoOr just like, don't mock people for asking what the intent is.
- Dylan16807 2mo agoIf you want to over-analyze people's reactions, sure I'll help: They're pigeon-holing because it can't be both. This isn't a situation where there's real overlap. Ambiguity is a lot more fun when there is substantial overlap, and on top of that ambiguity for the question of "is this useful" is bad ambiguity much more often than it's fun ambiguity.
- qarl2 2mo ago> it can't be both Really? Do you have a proof of that? Looking outside the realm of computer software, are you familiar with the concept of satire? "A Modest Proposal" is both funny and deadly serious at the same time. And it's been studied for hundreds of years. So I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.
- Dylan16807 2mo agoA modest proposal isn't serious about what it suggests. It's not a real way to solve either problem it talks about. If that's the best comparison, then this is straightforwardly not a productivity tool.
- qarl2 2mo agoI'm sorry I was not able to explain to you how things can be two things at the same time.
- Dylan16807 2mo agoSome ideas can overlap, some ideas can't. By ignoring the specifics of this situation, you confuse yourself into being wrong.
- qarl2 2mo agoSigh. "I'm right, you're wrong" doesn't make a very good proof. EDIT: I'm going to bed. You may have the last word.
