Show HN: Privacy focused client side password generator
- cdieck88 2mo agoReally nice work I especially like the UI!
- aaqaishtyaq 2mo agoThank you. I build it to avoid visiting random website to generate password
- bulbar 2mo agoWhy not using a local password generator?
- gkbrk 2mo agoIt's such a bad idea to use a random website to generate passwords, surely this has to be bait. > Strong passwords, generated only on this device. Nothing is sent or stored. > Private by design And the only way to verify this is to read and understand 288 KB of obfuscated Javascript code every time you launch this app.
- aaqaishtyaq 2mo agoThe app is hosted via github pages and is open source. Feel free the read the code. I built this so i don't have to visit other random pages. Just a tool for myself.
- bulbar 2mo agoDon't publish such things or put it online. People might end up using it. Even if the current state of the page is fine, this could, in theory, change anytime.
- ngruhn 2mo agoShameless plug: I also built a pure client-side password generator but you can specify the constraints as regular expressions. UI is obviously vibe coded but the logic underneath is hand written. https://gruhn.github.io/regex-utils/password-generator.html?constraints=%5E%5B%5Cx21-%5Cx7E%5D%7B16%7D%24%0A%5BA-Z%5D%0A%5Ba-z%5D%0A%5B0-9%5D https://gruhn.github.io/regex-utils/password-generator.html?...
- aaqaishtyaq 2mo agoThis is nice
- hahooh 2mo agogenerating pwd from random website is already not a safe move...
- aaqaishtyaq 2mo agoThat's why i build something for my own. I don't trust anyone else
- bbg2401 2mo agoAside from the security and slop issues, I'm curious to hear the rationale for using TanStack Router for an application with a single page and no server endpoints.
