The U.S. was founded by literal terrorists. Almost all freedom fighters who used any amount of violence would definitionally be terrorists. That has absolutely no bearing on countries today and applying the terrorist standard of today to people from before the post WW2 era when so many democracies and nation states were created makes little sense.
