- camillomiller 2mo agoWithout a trial? With a terrible firearm wound? Not even a murderer deserves such treatment in a civil country. You people are far gone. Fucking nazi Germany 1935

- devindotcom 2mo agoaccounts from ICE are not trustworthy or factual.
- fedpost 2mo agoHave you seen our prison system? Everyone who's actually "done something" about it is either dead, spent time in supermax, or is headed to supermax.
- camillomiller 2mo agoYour country is lost.
- fedpost 2mo agoNo shit. Many of us are doing stuff, but we can't post about it on fucking social media if we don't want to join our friends at the supermax party.
- sandworm101 2mo agoThere are two realities at the moment: the everyday culture that really hasn't changed all that much, and a federal dog-and-pony circus act that roams around the country doing crazy stuff. The vast majority of people have no interaction with the circus. For them, everything is normal and these news stories are an aberration. If they watch the news, they assume there is some larger story that they aren't being told. So the circus continues like a bad sitcom, nobody caring enough to actually do anything about it because they aren't really sure whether it is real.
- vrganj 2mo ago"What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, little by little, to being governed by surprise; to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act" [...] "This separation of government from people, this widening of the gap, took place so gradually and so insensibly, each step disguised (perhaps not even intentionally) as a temporary emergency measure or associated with true patriotic allegiance or with real social purposes. And all the crises and reforms (real reforms, too) so occupied the people that they did not see the slow motion underneath, of the whole process of government growing remoter and remoter." [...] "The dictatorship, and the whole process of its coming into being, was above all diverting. It provided an excuse not to think for people who did not want to think anyway. I do not speak of your ‘little men,’ your baker and so on; I speak of my colleagues and myself, learned men, mind you. Most of us did not want to think about fundamental things and never had." - zugi 2mo agoSome general advice that probably works around the world is, if you're present in a country illegally, don't go out of your way to seek out immigration enforcement officials to record them for TikTok. Nothing in the article refutes the assertion that Carlitos Ricardo Parias has been in the country illegally for 2+ decades, so it's not surprising that he's detained by ICE pending deportation. The Intercept refers to him as a "journalist" though all I can verify is that has a large TikTok following. The Intercept's editorial comment calling ramming ICE SUVs "a meaningless move in a small car physically pinned by multiple large SUVs" is laughable and destroys any notion one might have that they have journalistic integrity. I think in any country, when surrounded by police, if you ram police vehicles rather than stopping and raising your hands, you'll be in trouble. While him getting shot in the elbow is a great example of police ineptitude, I guess we've just gotten used to that. There are plenty of things to complain about regarding ICE behavior, but detaining someone who's in the country illegally isn't one of them.

- OgsyedIE 2mo agoYour comment is entirely untrue. The video shows a stopped car at rest, and you know this, because you are intentionally spreading falsehoods for the purpose of "flooding the zone with shit".
- 0xy 2mo agoHuh? Did you watch the video? Not only do you hear his car revving, but you see the law enforcement vehicle repeatedly shift backwards as he rams it. At 0:45 you see and hear him hit the vehicle, rev and the crunch of him accelerating against it. https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2025-12-28/federal-judge-dismisses-indictment-against-tiktoker https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2025-12-28/federal-...

- 0xy 2mo agoThere's video, lol.
- lcnPylGDnU4H9OF 2mo agoThat's why it's mind boggling that you are insisting something so dubious is obvious. The certainty with which you believe this conclusion speaks more to your personal biases than what can be objectively observed in the video.

- ck2 2mo agobtw another crime by ICE that has not been widely covered is they are FORCE FEEDING PRISONERS FOR MONTHS that is recognized as torture and illegal and should never be happening by our government * https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/aug/05/ice-force-feeding-hunger-strike https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/aug/05/ice-force-fe... * https://www.pbs.org/newshour/nation/ice-force-feeding-detainees-on-hunger-strike https://www.pbs.org/newshour/nation/ice-force-feeding-detain...

- dcj4 2mo agoThe anti suicide cult exists inside society out of fear, not out of concern for the individual in question. It is highly immoral.
- andyjohnson0 2mo agoForce feeding is not "life-sustaining, ordinary health care". Its torture.
- majorchord 2mo agoMy dictionary says torture implies pain or suffering, so based on that... I don't think it's fair to say that keeping people from dying by malnutrition is somehow akin to torture. Interfering with their personal freedom, yes, but not the same as torture. Some also argue hunger strikes are a psychiatric issue... and we force people to go to mental hospitals sometimes, don't we? How is that any better?
- ck2 2mo agooh we're back to "water boarding farmers is fine" ala Bush/Cheney years people are been kept prisoner in cold dark concentration camps for months or some a year now they are denied legal representation and outside contact they are being deported to countries they are not from or have not been since children they are being deported to countries that have US travel warnings for extreme crime and danger multiple physicians groups are extremely against force feeding, you think doctors are pro-suicide or rather know it's very wrong and a crime? worst countries in the world do this kind of stuff which should be a huge hint it's wildly wrong and criminal behavior by governments but okay, you keep living that privileged life and keep looking down on anyone without your luck to be born in better circumstance
- OgsyedIE 2mo agoI'm convinced that the patterns of the federal judiciary freely supporting egregious misconduct by multiple agencies will last until roughly one week after the funeral of the current POTUS. Old age, complications, whatever, the pendulum will swing back. The best case scenario for that swing-back is a prolonged and entirely civil witch hunt of the judges and attorneys involved, by force of intimidation by state governors threatening expulsion of federal personnel and nonpayment of funds to the Treasury unless a witch-hunting organisation is allowed to operate. This sounds horrible, but it is the option that most safely diffuses the tensions of implied violence. It's mirror, an entirely uncivil (force of arms) witch hunt, has historical precedents in other countries that suffered catastrophic civil wars and is the worst-case option. Like it or not, every country has the pendulum and it can only be managed.
- kraken_cult 2mo agoAh yes, the famously fair, famously well thought out "witch hunt for thee, but not for me". How about acknowledgement that there was a reason these people got elected and the addressing of grievances that brought that about. Problems heard and addressed.
- solid_fuel 2mo agoCry all you want, the people are demanding justice for the egregious crimes of the trump administration and his pathetic, sycophantic supporters. I think they will have it, one way or another.

- 3eb7988a1663 2mo agoThe grievance was that not enough journalists were getting thrown into jails without proper procedures or medical care?
- OgsyedIE 2mo ago
- dfee 2mo agoadmittedly, i don't know anything about this case, but the person at the center of it seems to be Carlitos Ricardo Parias. the intercept (source link) was rated far left by AllSides (https://www.allsides.com/news-source/intercept-media-bias https://www.allsides.com/news-source/intercept-media-bias) and the press release from justice.gov has a very different perspective (https://www.justice.gov/usao-cdca/pr/illegal-alien-mexico-charged-using-his-car-assault-federal-agents-attempting-arrest https://www.justice.gov/usao-cdca/pr/illegal-alien-mexico-ch...). it's very unclear what can be taken at face value.
- uoaei 2mo agoThe Intercept is not far-left, they are Blob-aligned via Pierre Omidyar. Reading this meter you linked from AllSides, it appears that the main purpose of that meter is to enforce the boundaries of the Overton window using faux-objectivity as a cover.
- dfee 2mo agomakes it doubly hard when you can't trust a media bias website, either. solving for "trust" is one of the hardest problems out there in 2026.
- ukd1 2mo agoeven just reading the article the left-lean/bias is clear here.
- preg_match 2mo agoAt this point, is any .gov domain a trustworthy source? We're in an information deficit currently.
- dfee 2mo agoirs.gov is without a doubt the SOT ;)
