But regulated media is also a shit show!
- beepbooptheory 2mo agoLike what?
- iamnothere 2mo agoPravda is the most famous example UK “D-notices” are another great example And the Sedition Act, as well as the Comstock Act
- doo_daa 2mo agoAren't the UK's D-notices advisory. I thought they could be (and often are) ignored by media outlets. I don't think they warrant a mention alongside Pravda.
- iamnothere 2mo agoTrue, I suppose UK “super injunctions” would be more apt, although the D-notice system has been used multiple times to successfully prevent information from reaching the public.
- fsuts 2mo agoTake a juicy corruption story to the media and watch them refuse to engage. All of them. There are things they are allowed to talk about, and things they are not. It’s been refined over many decades to maintain public ignorance That Epstein or Enron type scandal you see in the media is tip of iceberg of what is not published.
- JKCalhoun 2mo agoYou just need accountable media. Torture or murder on a live Facebook stream? You hold Facebook accountable.
