- IshKebab 2mo agoI didn't know who this is but it seems to be some guy who writes about bitcoin and dark web markets and was sort of trying to stay anonymous but put a doxxing bounty on himself (of like $39). He was discovered thusly: > At this link ([]), in the comments, you messed up by having your real name next to the Gwern avatar. I kind of like the weird inline inflation calculator thing but ultimately I think it's more distracting than useful. That's definitely true of the "years ago" thing. Neat idea, but not a good one.
- nl 2mo ago> Michael O’Kelly in the Google+ comments pointed out that the scheme was also in conflict with option-value/learning I miss Google+ (and even more Google Buzz that came before it, and FriendFeed before that). It's true that it was mostly a failure, but the fact that 2011 Google engineers were encouraged to participate in public on it meant there was a great seed for lots of really interesting technical discussions. HN (and ML Twitter, and maybe a few sub-Reddits) are the closest substitutes now, but not really the same.
