unless Apple allows adult content applications on Vision Pro its future is doomed.
There are only two first-adopters for any new technology: military and adult industry.
Without these you wont get any traction
- wat10000 5mo agoiPhone has never allowed those and it seems to have done alright.
- bijowo1676 5mo agoit did add Safari private browsing mode :), but overall iPhone piggybacked off of the Internet, which was created by Military and adult industry were the first large scale content websites that drove innovation
- jzellis 5mo agoYes, absolutely no one uses an iPhone to go to Pornhub and spank themselves into oblivion because Steve and Tim said it's wrong
- wat10000 5mo agoAnd nobody does that on Vision Pro despite it including the same browsing capabilities, apparently.
- DonHopkins 5mo agoSir, this is a Wendy's.
- numpad0 4mo agoThere are nevertheless viewers of such contents on iOS. They pass reviews so long the reviewer testing account only shows SFW sections that nobody uses. The users navigate from such sites to the App Store, and never the other way around, so there's absolutely no need for the app to have anything exposed to App Store.
- NetOpWibby 5mo agoWeb browsers exist
- bijowo1676 5mo agothen why buy expensive vision pro if I have a browser on my phone?
- throwaway28373 4mo agoStereo
- Rohansi 5mo agoYou mean web browser, singular.
- some_random 5mo agoI don't think that's true, 3.5k for a porn machine is an incredibly steep price.
- wholinator2 5mo agoI don't believe the two thoughts are mutually exclusive.
- ako 5mo agoPeople "happily" spend that on drugs, tobacco, and alcohol, so why not on porn.
- some_random 5mo agoTrue, but people are more willing to spend that kind of money $20-50 at a time than all at once.
- kenferry 5mo agoI don’t think either of those drove smart phone adoption.
- joemi 5mo agoAdult websites were never banned on those, as far as I recall.
- kenferry 4mo agoThey weren't banned, but adult websites were not why people bought the original iPhone. Neither the military nor porn were the drivers of smart phone adoption.
- breakpointalpha 4mo ago[dead]
- Natfan 4mo agosounds like you purchased your mobile phone contract as an adult[0] https://www.three.co.uk/support/internet-and-apps/accessing-and-blocking-adult-content https://www.three.co.uk/support/internet-and-apps/accessing-...
- numpad0 5mo agoThat's some insane revisionism.
- kaikai 5mo agoDon’t forget advertising
- nkrisc 5mo agoYou can watch porn on devices most people already have.
- yieldcrv 5mo agodoesn't work well on an airplane
- rpastuszak 4mo ago?
- yieldcrv 4mo agouse reasoning mode
- nkrisc 4mo agoThankfully, you’re right. No one should be watching porn in a public place.
- wolvoleo 5mo agoThis is true. I use my quest 3 for adult content all the time and it honestly adds a lot. It's the one thing where immersion really adds value. It's like you're there yourself, especially if you have a toy that can synchronise to the content. The prudishness is really holding back the industry.
- HDBaseT 4mo agoWhy would I want to be "there yourself"? You mean sitting in the cuck chair?
- wolvoleo 4mo agoNo. The videos are usually made from the perspective of the male actor. Similar to "POV" videos in 2D porn. So basically you'd see the female talent on top of "you". Cuck style content is of course available too. But not very common. The content is usually VR180 meaning it's 180 degrees field of view (you can look around a bit but not behind you) and stereoscopic so you can see depth. There's many live streamers in this mode of vision too.
- numpad0 4mo agoI've come across some article on that in the past - they seem to put a pair of synchronized APS-C cameras or one with a stereo lens ahead of a 3Dio. The entire thing can be mounted on a balanced crane, and the male actor slides under the head like a contortionist. Very few, if any, seemed to use KU100 for that; they seem to be only used for "ASMRs"(not much to do with ASMR anymore)
- wolvoleo 4mo agoNo, they don't do that anymore. I mean some people do, but in general creators have moved on to better things. There are many dedicated camera's now. The problem with side by side cameras is that they are usually too big to allow for the proper eye distance (around 65mm) so the perspective is wrong and also that the frame refresh is not synchronised which causes a small time difference between frames for left/right which can make people dizzy when things are moving. These days there are several pro-grade solutions. Canon has a really nice dual fisheye lens for their R5 camera - https://www.canon.co.uk/store/canon-rf-5-2mm-f2-8l-dual-fisheye-lens/5554C005/ https://www.canon.co.uk/store/canon-rf-5-2mm-f2-8l-dual-fish... , there's also some dedicated cameras in the pro-scene like the blackmagic ursa immersive: https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/blackmagicursacineimmersive https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/blackmagicursacine... if you have 30k$ to spend :) In the low-end people tend to mod 360 degree cameras by taking them apart and putting the two cameras side by side in a 3D printed enclosure. Reddit has a community about that: https://www.reddit.com/r/VR180Film https://www.reddit.com/r/VR180Film . You can get a gopro max 2 now for 400$ or so and it does 8K (you need a really high resolution because the viewer will only see part of the recording at a time!). Though modding is difficult because they tend to be action cameras and glued shut to avoid damage from shocks. But the resulting image quality is surprisingly great. And the streamers use cameras from https://www.calfvr.com https://www.calfvr.com I believe. Not entirely sure though.
- throwaway28373 4mo agoThere are no adult apps but they’re not needed for stereo videos. And the videos do exist, and they’re not hard to find, and they work well on AVP.
