Citing Gandalf, Pope Leo says we must "disarm" AI
- Zanni 5mo agoI wish this pope would stay in his lane. The only opinion I want to hear from him is whether AI can be baptized.
- p-e-w 5mo agoNot only that, he should clean house before lecturing others on any topic. By which I don’t mean that one needs to be perfect before giving opinions, but the current level of hypocrisy is pushing it.
- barryvan 5mo agoThe pope's "lane" is humanity. In reading the article, I found the position he puts forth to be measured and considered, focusing not on the technical aspects of AI, but rather on how to approach its use and implementation with empathy and careful thought.
- Our_Benefactors 5mo agoHis lane is Catholicism.
- chomp 5mo agoNot quite. You think he's just a well dressed CCE teacher?
- Our_Benefactors 5mo agoNo, I think he’s the spiritual leader for Catholics (not humanity)
- stevemk14ebr 5mo agoI wish you'd stay in your lane, his comments were awesome and basically the job
- sometimelurker 5mo agoA sibling comment says the Pope's lane is humanity, but if you wanna be more specific, religion has a ton of philosophy, Leo XIV has a degree in math, and the intersection of those two 100% includes AI.
- Mr_Bees69 5mo agoCompletely off topic, but the last time I was on vatican.va was Francis' ai statement. WOW, their site has gotten some swagger since then.
