how does that explain the "why would OpenAI buy them?" question? OpenAI has better relationships with every VC than these guys do. And why does OpenAI care about funding announcements, which trail actual fundraises by weeks or months?

It's not like the current CEO of OpenAI ran arguably the most desirable VC until a few years ago...
