> I think of myself more like a carpenter or craftsman.
> I used a coding agent for the majority of my current project and I still got the "build stuff" itch scratched because Engineers are still responsible for the output and they are needed to interface between technical teams, UX, business people etc
Then you are the opposite of a carpenter or a craftsman, no matter what you think about it yourself.
- mwigdahl 8mo agoWhat term would you use for that "opposite"?
- jacquesm 8mo agoPlumber?
- jplusequalt 8mo agoThe commissioner? You don't actually possess the knowledge that went into the code, as you did not write it.
- dakolli 8mo agoYeah could you imagine a project manager saying they are like a carpenter or a craftsman lmfao
- electrosphere 8mo agoTaking AI out of the equation for a minute - they don't build anything, engineers do. A carpenter builds a chair, table etc using the skill he has accumulated over the years.
