"DoIt" looks like "Dolt" in all too many fonts.
- rektomatic 8mo agoI legitametly thought it was Dolt until you pointed it out
- skybrian 8mo agoThe database actually is named "Dolt." It's their own take on "git." https://www.dolthub.com/ https://www.dolthub.com/
- verdverm 8mo agonit, Dolt is more a relational database with some git addons, i.e. it started from SQL to make it better, rather than starting from git and adding SQL
- skybrian 8mo agoYeah, I meant the name is a play on 'git'.
- verdverm 8mo agoHow so? They only share a final letter in common
- zachmu 8mo agohttps://docs.dolthub.com/other/faq#why-is-it-called-dolt-are-you-calling-me-dumb https://docs.dolthub.com/other/faq#why-is-it-called-dolt-are...
- verdverm 8mo agohmm, perhaps this is the underpinnings of why I stopped using dolt (trying to be too clever makes things harder in the long run)
- egypturnash 8mo agoanother winner from the school of naming that brought us "The GIMP", then
- zachmu 8mo agoIt is DOLT, you were right.
- mattnewton 8mo agoWait it’s not Dolt? I assumed it was named in the same vein as “Git” when I read it
- zachmu 8mo agolol it's DOLT, not DoIt. Yegge's Medium uses a serif font so you can tell, but in many faces you can't. (We still get this comment constantly and it's very unfortunate)
- egypturnash 8mo agomaybe you should consider a name change then

- block_dagger 8mo agoI literally thought it was "Dolt" until I read your comment.
