- the_gipsy 9mo agoMost likely they don't want to. It's ridiculous that you would need to give your phone number for some chat program.
- iknowstuff 9mo agoIs it? In a world full of LLMs and limited privacy preserving verification methods? Unless we come up with a global, double blind cryptographic government ID system, this is the reality of the internet.
- the_gipsy 9mo agoIt doesn't really solve spam in a meaningful way in practice.
- iknowstuff 8mo agoYes it does
- the_gipsy 8mo agoI still see a constant barrage of spam messages, direct or group.
- yndoendo 9mo agoSince you need to provide a phone number to sign up for Discord is the reason I never will. There should be no reason for a phone number and nor do I want to waste my time trying to buy pass it with internet provided single use numbers. Unless it is a service I must use, then I will provide a phone number. If it is a service I get to choose to use then I will never provide a number.
- ranger_danger 9mo agoYes to all 3. Even times when I've given up and put in a real phone number that has never been used with Discord, it still just bans me immediately after verifying, so they basically just stole the number.
