But many computer applications are models of systems real or imagined. Those systems are not mathematical models. That everything is an “algorithm” is the mantra of programmers that haven’t been exposed to different types of software.
- godelski 11mo agoMath is just a language. We use math in physics a lot, so I find it a weird claim to say that math doesn't apply to the real world.
- groundzeros2015 11mo agoReal world systems are chaos. Math is the most successful method for conceptualizing them into a model we can reason about - such as in a computer.
