"Happy People: A Year in the Taiga", film by Werner Herzog
- machomaster 11mo agoIt was shot and directed by a totally different person, a famous Rusdian documentary director. 4 x 1h parts. It is absolutely glorious. After the original movie was made, released and got successful, Werner Herzor made a deal with the director and edited 4 hours of original movie in half, while adding his commentary. He made it A LOT worse, sadly. The only people who rave about it, are the ones who haven't seen the original. Please, do yourself a favor and watch it. Perhaps the reason why Werner absolutely butchered the film was because he was so out of touch with the subject of happiness?..
- wao0uuno 11mo agoIf anyone's interested I think I found it on youtube in english: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLcHbZZPce_ZMUuYr5u6sxy3gsxLYLKiPv https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLcHbZZPce_ZMUuYr5u6sx...
- machomaster 11mo agoYou are correct. The movie was originally released on youtube by the director himself. I wasn't sure it had English subtitles, therefore I didn't specifically reference youtube as a place to find it. If someone watches the original I would really appreciate sharing your opinion about the movie (in general and/or in comparisson to the shortened version).
