I don't find normal syntax highlighting that useful. I use a heavier version of the rainbow delimiters. Where each scope or similar is a different colour. An example of this is prism mode in Emacs https://github.com/alphapapa/prism.el https://github.com/alphapapa/prism.el Although some of the IntelliJ things would be useful. Switching between modes is probably needed.
