Again, I'm not sure how such a tax on AI could possibly be felt by a non-college educated person to be a tax that 'they' are paying. The non-college educated aren't employing LLMs, or people to work with LLMs.
- kasey_junk 1y agoMoney is fungible, if you tax x to pay for y, you could have taxed z less or paid for w. And giving a giant regressive tax break to college loan holders was literally one of the things that lost Biden the election.
- vkou 1y agoYou're conveniently ignoring Kamala's plan to raise taxes on corporations (which turned tech and big business fully against the Dems), and Trump's plan to raise taxes (tariffs) on consumers, and give a massive tax gift to the wealthy in the BBB. While cutting benefits. If you're expecting progressive taxation from MAGA, or blue collar Republicans to vote for their self-interest, you'll be waiting a while.
- kasey_junk 1y agoI’m not waiting for progressive taxes or forgetting anything. I’m addressing your point on how people can “feel” like they are paying a tax unrelated to them. We are in the grievance era. People view any spending that goes to an “other” as a wealth transfer from them to that other (even while most of maga don’t pay any federal tax!) so if you pick an other to support it shouldn’t be one as unsympathetic as white collar workers.
