I worked as a graphics driver programmer for Canopus in the nineties primarily customizing graphics drivers for Rendition (Verite), Nvidia (Riva128 TNT) and 3Dfx boards (Voodoo1 and Voodoo2).
Most recently I worked on a 'graphics driver' for the PS5 for Minecraft (Bedrock edition)
It's a lot to talk about but if you have any specific questions I can answer them.
- ferguess_k 1y agoThanks! Sorry I don't have any specific questions so don't want to throw random stuffs at you. I think I'll begin by writing a software renderer and see what happens. Once I have a 3d renderer I can technically build any 3d games I wish to build (as long as it doesn't require eye candies!) so I can go from there. Drivers are still too far away from me -- and as others pointed out, it's extremely to write one without being an insider.
