X forwarding works on Wayland compositors that ship XWayland. Just like any other X11 application that does not rely on weird things like intercepting all your keypresses, capturing the content of other applications, etc.
- em-bee 1y agoand there is also waypipe for wayland forwarding.
- jmclnx 1y agoYes, but you are running the remote client on AIX ? AIX does not have Wayland at all nor its libraries. I had issues with that. That is done a lot in many companies due to some proprietary applications.
- em-bee 1y agowhat issues? if you do X11 forwarding then the remote client needs X11 only. there should not be any wayland dependency. that doesn't even make sense. more likely the issue is missing a specific X11 extension either in XWayland or on AIX.
- jmclnx 1y agoThey replaced AIX with RHEL a couple of years ago, so I cannot check anymore. When I tried w/wayland, nothing would display.
